Maybe I'm going blind, but it seems that AC_PROVIDE and
AC_PROVIDE_IFELSE are not documented in the Autoconf manual. AC_PROVIDE
is mentioned but not described. AC_PROVIDE_IFELSE is not mentioned.

to indicate
