Maybe, we can of course shorten it to something like:

XXX: 35 pages formatted (4 w, 5 bb) -- unresolved citations

I am happy with any text that shows the number of warnings and black
boxes so that the user can choose to manually open the error overview.

Definitely better (minus the typo nil -> t).
