I'd recommend using Emacs for this. With gnu-apl-mode you're able to type C-c C-f (control-c followed by control-f) and then simply type the name of the function. It will open in a separate buffer and you can edit it and save it directly to the APL runtime using a single keypress. If your code is in a .apl file, you can simply open it, navigate to the specific function, edit it and press C-c C-c to immediately send it to the running APL.
