Hi Nick, I don't think nano can be an issue. Depends on you. You can first check if you have firewalls on both sides. If so check without the firewalls. You could also do a tcpdump: tcpdump -ni <your interface> -vvv host <peer ip address>
You should see bgp messages going in both directions. Hope that helps.
