Well, last commit to the github repo was 6 Dec 2015. Internally, work has
continued, though it's not on the front burner. Improvements include:
- NDP is now functional;
- Added loopback interface;
- Added loopback IPs;
- IPv6 scope support;
- IPv6 Linklocal addresses.
The combination of these means that IPv6 routing is now functional.
In addition:
- netmap-fwd now clones static arp and ndp entries at startup. This can
be disabled with the "-S" flag.
- CLI arp and ndp commands were reviewed. It is now possible to add
static and temporary entries via the CLI.
- CLI route command now supports IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
- ICMP6 echo requests are now correctly handled (ping6 to router IPs
works).
- Less spam from debug
Some work has gone into threading, but this exposed errors in the netmap
implementation. This may be fixed with the recent import of netmap to
FreeBSD. We need to get back to that.
There is preliminary work to support IP checksum offload. This needs
support in the NIC drivers, (igb, ixgbe, ixl are done) and yields
noticeable improvement in forwarding performance. (3% at 1gbps, higher at
10gpbs). This work really needs to be finished and pushed back to FreeBSD.
We'll try to get an update pushed to github soon.
