Well this is interesting. Today I picked up an RCA Voyager Pro tablet. Just
something to play around with. I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 phone as well. My
portable display is a Braille Sense U-2 Mini.
When on the home screen in the Galaxy, BRLTTY only says
"Quick notifications"
or
"Recent Apps Back Home"
no matter how muc you swipe around the screen or use navigation commands on the
braille keyboard. It is a good thing I still have some usable hearing and can
still use Talkback to augment my braille usage.
However, in the few minutes i've managed to play with BRLTTY on the tablet, it
seems to read all the home screen very well. I can only assume that it is a
different touchscreen interface on here; or perhaps it is the launcher. I've
not studied very extensively on this topic so as to provide an accurate
hypothesis.
I will be interested to see how BRLTTY handles an ebook reading app. I know
it's easier to just read on the note taker, but I like playing with new
programs.
I want to thank Dave again for making this app. It was one of my main factors
in choosing an Android phone; the availabbility of a familiar braille interface.
