I just remembered that I think you use the eSpeak speech driver. Is that correct?
If so, could you please try not using it for a while so see if that makes the problem go away? Note that I'm not suspecting an actual problem with the eSpeak speech driver, but, rather, I'm expecting a bit of interference from the additional thread that it uses.
