Hi Mattias,

If things still aren't working you might try this:

1. Remove the last line of that file, the one Dave quoted.

2. That's what you should type when you start the installer; in other words, 
type:

text brltty=al,ttyS0

Also, and please don't get mad, your posts have been very confusing. At 
times you seem to be saying you're installing Debian, other times that 
Debian is already installed, most recently that you're installing Mandrake. 
It would help immeasurably if you'd define your present task carefully and 
make sure that's what you're talking about.
