To me that certainly seems like one of its biggest benefits. It's grass; it doesn't require nearly the same kind of care that more traditional food crops do. And I recall the article indicated that unlike those crops, it doesn't need replanting every year. If they can work around the cellulouse issues, I think it's very promising.
