This is one of the best reasons to get up at 3:30 AM to look at the
moon during a total eclipse: it makes it so clear that is is a sphere
and not a disc.

I plan to wake up my 10-year-old tonight and drag him outside to see
this. I'm sure he'll groggily appreciate it.

And may even remember having done so in the morning.
