I've seen some people on this list mention being fans of J. Michael
Straczynski, the creator/writer of Babylon 5, Jeremiah, writer of the
Spider-Man comic, etc. Here is some news about movies he is writing or has
written.
According to a post on rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5.moderated, "Changeling,"
written by JMS, produced by Ron Howard, directed by Clint Eastwood, and
starring Angelina Jolie, starts prep next month with plans to open next
year. Also, he has written and turned in a script for a Silver Surfer
spin-off movie, looking at a late 2008 release, "They Walked Into Sunlight,"
based on the book by Pulitzer prize winner David Maraniss, to be directed by
Paul Greengrass and produced by Tom Hanks, "World War Z," based on the Max
Brooks novel, also planned for 2008, and a movie about the life of King
David.
And to quote the last two lines of his usenet posting:
