After a disastrous 6-10 week last week, my hopes for prognostication
glory this season are just about shot. So, like a team out of the
playoffs, I'm going to play out the string here..

Minnesota at Green Bay - You'll have to take my word for it that I
thought a team starting a rookie QB from Alabama State, on a short week,
on the road, in what might be Brett Favre's last game in Lambeau was, in
my mind, perhaps the easiest pick of the year. The Vikings offense was
horrible, but it is astonishing that Green Bay needed a late field goal
to win that slugfest. Pick: PACKERS

Kansas City at Oakland - The Chiefs aren't out of it yet, but where the
Raiders ever really in it? Pick: CHIEFS

Chicago at Detroit - The only question is how much do the Bears care -
after disinterestedly letting the Bucs nearly steal a game they were
dominating last week. Still, the Lions are so bad and so banged up..
Pick: BEARS

Washington at St. Louis - The Redskins did quite a number corralling the
Saints last week in New Orleans, if they play the same way this week,
they should be able to do a number on the very mediocre Rams. Pick:
REDSKINS

New Orleans at NY Giants - Looks like more mild weather in the
northeast, and even as the Giants have gotten healthier, they haven't
played quite as well as I would have hoped. Still, the Saints' defense
is nowhere near the caliber of the Eagles, which will make it hard for
them to repeat last week's result. Pick: GIANTS

Baltimore at Pittsburgh - The Ravens shut out the Steelers at home
earlier this season, and while Pittsburgh is playing much better as of
late, are they playing *that* much better? Pick: RAVENS

Carolina at Atlanta - At this point, the Panthers just haven't inspired
much confidence this season - certainly not to pick them on the road.
Pick: FALCONS

Tennessee at Buffalo - I loved Vince Young coming out of college, and
desperately hoped that the Bills would get him - but this guy has won a
game on a 60 yard field goal, on Giants DE Kiwanuka letting him out of
his grasp on 4th down, an overtime scramble against the Texans, and on
three defensive scores against the Jaguars. This luck has to run out at
some point. Pick: BILLS

New England at Jacksonville - The last time the Patriots went to
Florida, two weeks ago, they lost 21-0. So who knows what will happen
here, but the way the Jaguars gave up three touchdown returns to the
Titans, I have to give an edge to the Patriots defense in this one.
Pick: PATRIOTS

Indianapolis at Houston - Yawn! Pick: COLTS

Tampa Bay at Cleveland - After the way the Bucs nearly came back against
a disinterested Bears team last week, I'll give them the nod. Pick:
BUCS

Arizona at San Francisco - San Francisco just had its best WR suspended
for drug abuse, so when you don't have any other idea. Pick: CARDINALS

Cincinnati at Denver - Poor Cincy, they have to finish the season at
Indy and at Denver. wow.. The weather may still be miserable in
Denver for this one to boot. Pick: BRONCOS

San Diego at Seattle - The Seahawks appear to be in full reverse, but
they've had a long week to prepare for this one. Pick: SEAHAWKS UPSET
SPECIAL

Philadelphia at Dallas - Jeff Garcia Lives! Pick: EAGLES

NY Jets at Miami - Well, if the Bills beat the Titans, the Patriots beat
the Jaguars, and the Broncos beat the Bengals, all the Bills will need
is a Miami win in this one in order to be able to "win and get in" next
week against Baltimore. Yes, the Fish got dominated 21-0 in Buffalo
last week, but the week before that they blanked the Patriots 21-0 at
home. Played on Christmas day, this game will probably have a lot of
Jets fans in the stands, but why not have a little hope.. Pick: DOLPHINS
