Now comes news that the FCC is weighing the possibility of massive fines -- on the order of millions of dollars -- against CBS stations that air

Freakin' control freaks...

For those who are perhaps drawing a blank here, could you be more
specific about what the "freakin' control freaks" want bleeped? (I
don't mean that you need to specify the cuss words. I mean what
documentary are you talking about and who was saying something that
needed to be bleeped, as apparently in the past five years I have
forgotten seeing it . . .

This would be the documentary entitled "9/11" by Gedeon and Jules
Naudet, who just happened to be filming a "year in the life" of a
probationary fire-fighter in New York on September 11, 2001. Among other
things, the documentary includes footage shot inside the South tower
while the North Tower collapsed.

Naturally, being filmed around firefighters under the highest stress
that anyone could have expected them to endure, contains some rough
language. Apparently, after screening and re-screening that couple of
milliseconds of Janet Jackson's nipple at the 2004 Superbowl for hours
on end, the geeks at the FCC have lost all sense of proportion.

To their credit, executives at CBS have refused to edit the documentary.
Apparently, they would like to _honor_ the memory of the event, rather
than sanitize it for our protection.
