Most regime changes from military dictatorships to democracies
in South America, in the 80s, were peaceful. The brazilian change,
for example, took about 10 years to complete, with democracy slowly
taking over the power from the dictators and the dictatorial laws.

The exception [in South America] could be Argentina, whose change
was triggered after they lose the war with England for that piece of
frozen rocks.
