If any of you are anywhere near NYC and have some time in the next
month or so, I have to highly recommend going to the Museum of Modern
Art. They're doing a 20-year retrospective on Pixar's animation, and
it is well worth going to. Ford Motor Company is sponsoring it, and
it's free for families to boot.

Perhaps best of all, though, was sneaking in a little culture. We got
there about am hour before the day's presentation, which was by the
guy who wrote and directed the short film "For the Birds," so we had
a little time to wander. My oldest is into drawing and art, and this
was really her first chance to see some great works of the past 150
years. It was exciting for me to see her viewing "real" art. She
even wrote down a few names for future reference. I told her we
could surf the 'Net for more information this week, and she seemed
excited. The only down side I see to this is that between her love
of art, her general introversion, and that she's taken to Green Day
and Evanescence at such a young age, I fear I have a Goth-in-training
on my hands. :-)

My younger two enjoyed seeing the exhibits as well, though my littlest
loudly proclaimed, upon seeing a statue of a naked guy, that "His
weiner's hanging out, Daddy!" Yes, well, that's called art, honey,
and sometimes nekkidness just happens to be part of it.

The Pixar exhibit itself was great fun. Storyboards, character
designs, maquettes of the characters to assist in animation, sketches,
and all manner of similar goodies were there. If you know anyone who
loves animation, it's an excellent bet.
