Comedian Richard Pryor died Saturday of a heart attack, his wife told CNN. He was 65. Pryor had been ill with multiple sclerosis. Pryor became a legend of comedy by tapping his rage and agonies for laughs. He was the biggest name in standup comedy in the 1970s, winning Grammy awards for his comedy albums. He also appeared in nearly 40 films. Pryor had long been in fragile health. He suffered a massive heart attack and underwent triple bypass surgery in 1990.
********************************************************************************** Ahhhhhhh Shit! Some people typify some aspects of their times. For me Pryor was a sort of a hero for his ferocious honesty about himself and for being the absolute funniest person on Earth during most of the 70's. He could make you bust a gut laughing, but I remember shedding a tear or two when he spoke the line "Damn..... I wanted to eat that (monkey)". It was just too real, too close to the common experiences of real life. Richard Pryor knew how to reach inside himself and pull out bits of the truth in ways that shamed us mere mortals into examining ourselves more fully. I knew several guys who could and would recite entire Pryor bits at the drop of a hat. Many of my generation knew those bits by heart. It's time to watch Blazing Saddles.......one more time. xponent "Slow that damn thing down! This is a neighborhood, this aint no residential district" Maru rob _______________________________________________ http://www.mccmedia.com/mailman/listinfo/brin-l
