I work with someone who claims to be an atheist because that's what her
husband believes, and who was shocked when I said that religion was
(IMO) a major cause of the NYC attack.
I'm not quite as kneejerk as WTG WRT religion, but the fundamentalist
streak in this nation is NOT helping us at all. Fundamentalism demands
kowtowing unquestioningly to authority. I don't see much functional
difference between the declarations of a kook like Robertson … and
kooks like Stalin.
America is not dead, but fundamentalists sure as hell are slipping the
knife in. Contrarily, that's just one knife of many.
