The difference is, of course, that your goad resulted in action. Mine

Maybe. I use up all my patience (and then some!) with dealing with
young children, I don't want to hear nonconstructive whining from an
*adult* for pity's sake! :D
I'm not sure what constructive whining is, unless it's a warning of
something urgent that the whiner can't do anything about, and other
tactics have been tried to get attention.
