This is not true. As Leonard said, the trilobites were wiped out by the end-Permian mass extinction. An excellent account of the evolutionary history of trilobites can be found in Richard Fortey's book _Trilobite!_, which I reviewed a few years ago:

I think I was thinking of the Burgess Shale, which for some reason got associated in my head with trilobites, Cambrian extinctions, and total vanishment.
