Hmm, yes, that is a good possible explanation. Things are a bit
different here. Not only is atheism considered a part of hinduism, most
people just don't believe you when you claim to be an atheist. Gord was
highly bemused when people would just refuse to take his word for it.
Most people either think that you don't wish to discuss religion or they
dismiss the notion of atheism out of hand.

It took John a lot of years to explain this to me. Part of the reason
was that I just didn't want to listen. I enjoyed sharing my perceptions
too much to accept a notion which would curtail that delightful
practice. :)
