<sigh>  Warren, you obviously don't understand that
children must learn: "no" means "no" -- of course, it
is terribly difficult for most nowadays because "no"
frequently means "yes" -- behold the Twinkies and pop!
 Thus, the pathetic woman you saw was at the point
where it took 10+ "NO!"s to *actually mean* "no."

<serious>  Unfortunately, I think that for millenia
some have used their offspring for business/personal
gain.  If children were rarer, they would be more
cherished.  I have long thought that one of the best
things that could happen to humanity is a
'greatly-reduced fertility' plague.  Of course, that
would possibly lead to a larger black market in
babies/children, so maybe not...
