Of course not. They've been yelled at about WELFARE QUEENS!!! and other
UNDESERVING PEOPLE GETTING YOUR MONEY FOR FREE!!! for so long now that
the mere mention of the fact that someone might end up on welfare scares
them scurrying right back to their reality TV.
The case was not about welfare. It was about a child-molesting scumbag.
He got caught. With pictures. He should go to prison and get to know the
fathers, brothers, sons, uncles and cousins of his former charges
*really* well, and when he's done with that, he should look for a job
like all the people we throw in jail for smoking pot or snorting coke
without considering whether or not it'll get in the way of their
vacation plans.
By the way, I think Joe and Jane Public aren't as stupid as some people
think they are. I think they understand that criminals need to serve
their time and to hell with what it does to their vacations and their
careers.
