But you are the only person I've run across so far who dislikes it greatly.
It is confusing as hell for newbies - there are references to things from the book without any sort of explanation, and there are punch lines without setup, and jokes that have had the punch line removed. Mos Def is just wrong as Prefect, if only because at most times he is talking away from the camera/mic and can't be heard.
For the fans, who understand what is going on, it is bewildering to see so much important stuff gone, and so much extraneous stuff tacked in with no benefit. It's just not funny, and the story doesn't hold up without the humour.
2 colleagues at work have also seen it, again one a fan and one a newbie, and both hated it.
I had low expectations, but it was worse than I imagined.
