Thanks, Dan. Spot on. Moreover, what the President actually said was, "America will never seek a permission slip to defend the security of our country." We're talking about removing the dictator in *another country* who posed *no threat* to the security of the United States other than the specious connection between Saddam Hussein and 9/11, created through yet another trick of language, that of consistently referring to our unprovoked attack on Iraq as "the war on terror." With respect to the song: In attempting to form a civil response to the supercilious puffery of our listmate, "Let's call the whole thing off" was about as gentle as I could be. It sure beat the hell out of "sod off," which suggested itself to me. It was intended to send the literal message "let's call the whole thing off," while lampooning inflexible position-taking.
