I often get emails spoofed from unsecured mailers, many of which seem to report as being 'nix. That's just plain sloppiness on the part of those machines' sysadmins.
And that's different from Windows' security issues how? ;-)
I'll guess that the answer is that at least Unix has the tools to make it secure, while Windows has deeper flaws.
But, in case that straw man is interesting, I'll knock him down with the notion that it's all human error...
The main human error being at Microsoft, in the design of Windows. An OS deliberately designed to ignore the accumulated wisdom of decades in regard to computer security.
That's just not happening on 'nix based systems. All I'm suggesting is that MS's VBS is the greatest facilitator of spam and virus ever developed in the history of computers or programming. I think it's a fair assertion.
I suspect you are correct. Kind of funny, considering how very proud Bill G. has been with regard to his work on implementing BASIC years ago.
An example of the stunning wrong-headedness of MS on security was the statement a few years back by some MS drone (or possibly Gates himself) that Java was crippled by running in a sandbox and MS' solution was much more useful because it didn't. Much more useful for viruses, worms, trojans, spyware and other malware for sure.
