He does.  But, those contacts also use him in internal political games.

If so, I wonder why the families still don't know their loved ones are
dead....three years later.  He reported on massive casualties early in the
war, and we never ever saw them.

FWIW, I maintain an informal running tally on "inside information"
statements by various people.  I've seen Hearsh make statements that should
have been verifyable later...but were not verified....the predictions just
faded away.   I think it strains credibility to think that the US
government could cover up massive losses of American soldiers for more than
a couple of weeks.
