I'm guessing no, since they live in MD. IIRC, the MA supreme court just ruled against those fighting enforcement of the 1909 law that prevents out of state people from getting married. (The argument against the law was that it hasn't really been enforced here in years until gay marriage was legalized here). >From what I've heard earlier, many towns here have refused to enforce the law, or weren't going to do any verification of residency (ie: they'd take the couple's word for it as to what state they lived in.) I don't know if that's still the case, or if this ruling will impact that. Anyway, I'm guessing it's most likely a church wedding of some kind. It's not too hard to find an open-minded Unitarian church (or some other kind) that will do gay weddings. > JDG - Otherwise, Bush's support for a constitutional amendment is > irrelevant.... I disagree. Clearly they cared enough about having a government-recognized marriage to go to San Francisco to attempt to get one. Not being MA residents, their best hope would be for gay marriage to become available in their state, and that is what Bush is trying to prevent. -bryon _______________________________________________ http://www.mccmedia.com/mailman/listinfo/brin-l
