Now John, you know we've established that rule on this
list.  If a conservative questions the foreign policy
_judgment_ of a Democrat, that's questioning his
patriotism.  (That was Doug, I think, but he's hardly
alone in that.)  If a Democrat explicitly says that
his opponents hate the United States (too many to
mention) or are un-American (Teresa Heinz) or
unpatriotic (Wesley Clark) that's perfectly normal in
civil discourse and there's nothing vaguely
questionable about it.  When Michael Moore says that
the United States is a malevolent force in the world
and Americans are stupid (as he said in the UK) that
doesn't mean anything other than that he's questioning
the current Administration, but if someone who
disagrees with him points that out as perhaps a sign
that he's not the biggest fan of the US, that's
suppressing dissent.

As long as you keep that in mind, list standards and
etiquette will be perfectly clear to you...
