I'm not as happy as I was at noon, but feel like sharing. I finally got my raise to the next job classification, 18 months after I was recommended. The fact that I'm doing the same work as someone two levels above me, one now, has been rewarded.

I took a big pay cut for this job, I had to start a second job to make up the difference. I still won't be where I was but very close. It has many side benefits and I was not promised the bump, but the fact I was testing for the higher position augured that I would eventually get it. Still 18 months is a long time of promises and disappointments.

The only bad part: they normally make it retroactive to the time the paperwork was submitted. I don't expect 18 months even though I was never formally told I was rejected the first time. But they are only making this retroactive for a month and the last round was started at least four months ago.

I'm going to throw horseshoes Saturday and Sunday and take Monday off* to celebrate. I'm sure something bad will happen to rebalance my life.
