I have really enjoyed this thread. Now I know the group I need to consult
when choosing music to test my next pair of speakers (they will be bigger
Klipschs to be sure)!

To those who experienced the 70's (and you know who you are) you guys know
some fine music. Although nobody mentioned Little Feat, this omission will
be overlooked.

My favorite stuff, the stuff I keep in my iPod, would be from the 80's.
Light happy stuff like Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer, SOD, MOD,
Flotsam and Jetsam, Exodus, and Testament (the last two are not CCM, if you
were wondering). I have seen Metallica about 18 times. Every tour from
Hell on Earth on. I will try to see them on this latest tour, I just hope
they don't play too much new stuff. Not that its bad musically, it just
doesn't seem to be all there. Kind of like Jello that didn't set right. You
just can't get out of rehab and make the same great angry stuff as you did
before.

My other favorites are the guitar gods of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Joe
Satriani. I have almost their complete discographies in my little friend.
I am still kicking myself for missing the G3 tour last year. Just having
Satriani, Vai, and Malmsteen on the same stage should of compelled me to
miss my business trip the next day, or at least flown out of Detroit.
Satriani is my favorite musician to read sci-fi to. Good movie soundtrack
material there.

About that grunge thing in the 90's...most of the bands from the 70's were
musically superior. It just seemed that lyrical anger was more important
than musical ability. YMMV. Although it was nice because it was the only
time my ugly flannels I wore in high school were in fashion.
