I exchange e-mails with people whose company policy is that you include
*everything* that has gone before and top-post.  Official, from-on-high
policy.

I try to edit what I'm replying to.  Sometimes it gets tricky.  :)  But
it's worth not having to wade through a couple of screens worth of
irrelevance when my reply is replied to.
