Why not try to curb that "gigantic U.S. demand" through moral exhortation? Oh, right, because that would be infringing on Americans' freedom to be selfish greedy filthy little scumbags. The only place conservatives believe in bossing everyone else around is when it comes to sex, in which case, abstinence is the solution to all life's problems.
