My dad has a belt buckle in his luggage that had a revolver emblem on it. It stood out on the buckle, but was clearly harmless, despite its realistic detail. The airport security not only flagged it, they consficated it, then made him sign a release statement that allowed them to destroy the "weapon". In order to not miss the plane, he signed it. The irony is that it was not his. A 4 year old grandson slipped it into his luggage as he was packing. It came from his father, who was a gulf war vet, and was given the belt buckle while in the Navy.
