I read a resume of _The Chronicles of Riddick_ [not sure if this is the English title], featuring Vin Diesel in the continuation of _Eclipse something_.
The first movie was released as _Pitch Black_ in the US. It's one of my favorite recent SF flicks, and I'm very glad they're making a sequel (prequel?); it was a nicely gritty and (somewhat) realistic SF world that didn't pull punches. A lot like Alien/Aliens; the universe is a harsh place and doesn't give a $#!+ about any humans that get caught in the way. Fantastic scenery, nice alien designs, and a serious attempt to make the motley crew of characters interesting.
It's easy to overlook the fact that it's a Vin Diesel action movie.
The crash sequence at the start (the ship gets holed by several micrometeoroids, leading to system failures and a ditch on a nearby planet) starts the adrenaline ride. I crank my home theater up to 11 for that one. :)
And it has Claudia Black (Farscape's Aeryn Sun) so it can't be all bad.
The only negative that really bugs me: the ring on the nearby planet that's sitting like a hat far away from the equatorial plane. Why, oh why did they have to put that in there?
