I'd point out that technically speaking, it's possible for the US to
project force nearly anywhere as it is using B-52-launched cruise
missiles (and mid-air refueling).

The difference is in the *degree* of force which can be quickly
projected.



And the desired degree of "quickly", as those are subsonic . . .
