I'd like to see the data on glass recycling - no
question that it's heavier and more fragile, but
certainly teas and Coca-Cola taste better when bottled
in glass. I use glass to brew sun-tea, never plastic.

And while beneficial medical use of plastics abound,
certain instruments just ought to be...um, sturdier
than the plastic ones I've had *break* as I've done a
GYN exam... (the patients are NOT amused!). Metal can
be autoclaved to destroy all pathogens (hmm, except
possibly prions? But then, specula aren't used near
the female brain anyway... ;} ).

I freeze foods in plastic, but store them in glass in
the refrigerator. I prefer glass for microwaving as
well, and for drinking and eating from too.
