My dictionary says "neanderthal" and not "neandertal".  But either way,
my understanding is that it should be *pronounced* "neandertal".

But it's a lot more fun to say "Leanderthal" than "Leandertal" if you're
talking about people from Leander.  (And there are a number of people
who say "Leanderthal" when talking about them.  Leander is on US 183,
north of Cedar Park, which is north of Austin on US 183; at that point,
US 183 is west of IH-35.)
