The Friday after 9/11 [..] BBC America was airing a concert from England, something about the end of the Prom (or Proms?), and they did "Adagio for Strings" in honor of the American tragedy.
That was "Last Night of the Proms", the closing night of the BBC Proms, an annual series of classical concerts.
