This supports something that women collegues and I had
discussed as curious anecdotes: a number of women who
normally had irregular menses reported that when they
had a steady boyfriend/mate, their cycles became
regular.

Of course, the cycling of women who live together has
been documented:
http://www.activeallure.com/Sniffing%20out%20the%20truth.htm
"...In 1998, Kathleen Stern and Mary McClintock from
the University of Chicago, Illinois, published the
first definitive evidence that the reason why women
living together synchronise their menstrual cycle must
be because they secrete an odourless chemical in their
sweat2. More direct evidence of human pheromones was
lacking until now..."

I think there was prior mention on the list about the
vomeronasal (Jacobson's) organ and its possible
effects in humans, but here is a short paper, looks to
be by a grad student:
http://www.bol.ucla.edu/~bredelin/vno.html

and another very short one about skin extracts causing
"friendliness:"
