The silicon cemente I used is slightly stickier. But yeah, I personally replace it every 6-8 months or so. Thermal pads ARE better for massed PC's, even if they are slightly less efficient. And I'd be wary of the adaptor...there are perfectly good fans and I'd prefer to mount another fan in the case rather than using an adaptor.
