What I admire about the Covenant books was that I enjoyed them a great deal despite 
how much I disliked their protagonist.  I frankly find Thomas Covenant to be one of 
the most unlikable main characters in Fantasy/SF literature.  Sure, he makes the right 
decisions in the end, but he whines incessantly right up until that point.  Great 
books, but I wanted to kick Covenant in his ass for most of it.
