On a scale where WWII is a 10, and Viet Nam is a 1, I'd stick the Korean war around 7 or 8 or so. Not perfect, but not too bad. But not *truly* good, with as clear-cut a reason for going.

Given the discussion here, this surprises me. A people under threat from an oppresive government, and a world concerned about the intentions of that government, triggers a UN resolution for the oppressive government to back off, followed by a UN-led coalition force from many nations around the world.
The said UN force goes in with a clear objective, and eventually achieves it, preventing the oppressive government from ruthlessly ruling the people who did not want said government (so far, anyway).

If we're in a discussion about whether or not the US-British-Australian forces should move now or wait for UN sanction, Korea probably shouldn't be listed as not having a clear-cut reason for going...
