I have a friend who used to go to midnight showings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show almost every weekend. He was a real fanatic about it. About 11 or 12 years ago, we had a freak late March snowstorm that hit on a Friday morning. He had already made plans to go to Rocky that night and somehow managed to con me and two others into going with him, despite the weather.

We were the only 4 people in the theater that night. As soon as the movie was over and we were out of the door, the staff had the doors locked, their cars started, and were gone. We walked across the parking lot to where we had parked, and the car doors were frozen shut. We could get the key into the lock, but it wouldn't turn. We tried everything in the book short of breaking a window to get into the car, to no avail.

It was bitterly cold, still snowing a little, and after 2 o'clock in the morning. I knew that there was a QuikTrip (24 hour convenience store, similar to 7-11) a couple of blocks away, so I walked there with one of the other guys to call the police to see if they could assist us in breaking into the car.

While the two of us were gone, the other two kept trying to think of other ways to get into the car. One of them had purchased a jumbo-sized soda while in the theater, and with the cold and the stress, desparately needed to relieve himself. He realized that urine is warm, so...

It didn't work. The two of us that had walked to the convenience store made it back to the car about the same time as the police arrived. While the police officer was working on the driver's side door, I couldn't help but notice some strangely discolored ice over the lock on the passenger's side, ice that wasn't there when I had left. The officer got the other door opened before I had a chance to ask. As we were driving off, the other two explained to us what they had tried.

I think I laughed the whole way home.
