They would be turned in by loyal Hispanic-Americans. :-) One of the most
important aspects of this is the developing understanding of the Texan war
of independence. The role of Hispanic patriots in fighting for Texas
independence against the tyranny Santa Anna is being emphasized by both the
old guard white Texans and the Hispanics. The multi-generational Hispanics
that trace their Texan ancestry back 150+ years tend to be fairly
conservative, and are well established Texans. Immigrants are in the US
because they, or their parents or grandparents, would rather be here than
in Mexico.

So, I'd argue that the US is much more at risk from right wing militias
than from Hispanic Americans.
Wasn't there a message posted to the list recently that included mention of how Hispanic Americans in California who are relatively recent immigrants generally seemed to assume that California would eventually be given to Mexico?

I suppose I could be completely misremembering that, but even so, the attitude of Hispanic Americans in Texas might not be the same as the attitude of Hispanic Americans in other regions of the country.

Not that this particular Hispanic- (and Scottish- and Native-) American has any plans to secede from the Union any time soon ;-)

But I do agree, right-wing militias are much more of a current threat to the U.S. on a short-to-mid-term basis, even if only because they are much more organized right now. Long term might be another story...
