Japanese scientist invents 'invisibility cloak'
Must have been a closeted D&D fan. Okay, maybe Ghost in the Shell.

A Japanese scientist has developed a coat which appears to make the
wearer invisible.
Nope. Definitely Harry Potter.

The illusion was part of a demonstration of optical camouflage technology
at Tokyo University.
Cool. Just imagine the fraternity pranks one could pull with a cloaking device. :)

It is the brainchild of Professor Susumu Tachi who is in the early stage
of research he hopes will eventually make camouflaged objects virtually
transparent.
Neat.

The photograph was taken through a viewfinder that uses a combination of
moving images taken behind the wearer to give a transparent effect.
Whoa.

So the picture isn't an image of the technology at work... it's a trick photo made using a clever camera and/or a clever technique?

So much for 'cloaking' technology.

*Yawn*

Wake me when Tokyo University stops playing with Photoshop and announces their results are science.
