Yes, but at a *natural* level.

Have you heard any of the debate over hormone replacement therapy in
post-menopausal women?  Seems that the women getting HRT were at greater
risk for various things.  The female body's ability to deal with level X
of hormones seems to be age-dependent, and throwing more hormones into
the system unnaturally might not be a good idea in a number of cases. 
Heck, the perfectly natural ones that occur in pregnancy can do all
sorts of less-than-pleasant things, such as morning sickness, which is
no fun at all, especially when it belies its name and runs 24/7 for a
few weeks.

And now I'm sure I've given someone an opening for a soy debate (or
tirade, depending).  >:)
