I think owning an US TV network is definitely more powerful. The media do
not need the politicians, but the politicians do need the media. Further,
you can own a TV station for decades, but you can only be US president for
eight years (and only if you get re-elected), maybe a few years more if you
start out as vice-president and the president dies.
