I've noticed that it is very hard to distinguish the "Brin" topic from the "Brin-L" topic, especially once various forms of "RE:" start getting embedded in threads. Maybe you could change Dave's identify to "Dr. Brin"? An alternative, that I would actually prefer is to remove the "Brin-L" header from general list postings, and only have identifiers for special topics. Since the switch-over, the new identifiers have given my "Sort by Thread" commands fits, and have even made it more difficult for me to sort out threads by eye-balling them as well.
