Hi everyone,
Hope that you are all well.
As I have mentioned on here before, I am currently doing a project that is
looking at bluegrass music for the completion of my Masters degree. It is
all going real well, and I am having lots of fun investigating more about
the music, and learning the bass fiddle in jam sessions that I am attending
around here in Sheffield, England.
Part of my investigations are looking at people's experiences with the
music, and the traditions that are contained in the music that we know and
love. I am looking into the traditions to do with the musich which people
are aware of, and opinions as to why tradition is such a big part of our
music. I was wondering, if some of the great people on this list might be
willing to tell me about their thoughts in these topics, either on the list
or privately. I do have some questions that I wanted to ask, or perhaps we
could start a general discussion about traditions in bluegrass and the
Stanleys music on this list. If you would be happy to answer some further
questions I have, please reply in private.
Any contributions that people do have will, of course, be fully credited to
that person. I hope that we can have a good discussion that can help me as I
find out more about the great old time music of the Stanley Brothers, Dr
Ralph and other groups.
Thank you all so much,
Gideon
