Ralph’s Condition

As most of you know, Ralph Stanley had a sick spell on Saturday at Meadowgreen Park in Clay City, KY. He did perform on the afternoon show but we canceled our evening performance and took him directly home to Coeburn, Virginia. He was complaining of nervousness and pain in his stomach before the afternoon show. Even though he was beginning to feel better by early evening, we thought the best thing to do was to get him home.

I just spoke with Ralph on the phone earlier today and I know everyone is concerned about his condition so I wanted to let you know what is going on. He went to his regular family doctor yesterday to get checked out and the doctor thinks that he might have had a reaction to the heart medicine that he has been taking. The doctor told him to cut the heart medication in half and Ralph will go in to see his heart specialist in Kingsport, TN tomorrow morning. Both doctors have consulted and they seem to think the medication may have caused the problem. As of right now, he is resting at home and he certainly appreciates all the concern from everyone who has called or emailed.

Hopefully the doctors will get everything straightened out and he will be back to his old self again soon. Right now I think some well deserved rest will do him more good than anything.

At this point, no shows have been canceled and here is our schedule for the rest of January:

12 Chapel Hill, NC- Memorial Hall

13 Charlotte, NC- Neighborhood Theater

14 Galax, VA- Fairview Ruritan

15 Appomattox, VA- Appomattox High School

21 Athens, OH- The Blue Gator

22 Abingdon, VA- Barter Theater

Again, on behalf of Ralph, the CMB's and the Stanley family please let me say that

we appreciate all the concern about his health from his fans and friends.

Thanks,

James A. Shelton
